Animal Heroes: 8 Animals Who Deserve Their Own Medals

writer: MARYAM KALEEM

An animal’s life isn’t always easy, and they often face threats that humans don’t have to worry about. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be heroes. From dolphins saving humans who fall into the ocean to polar bears defending baby seals, there are many animals out there who go above and beyond the call of duty to help their fellow creatures out when no one else will. Here are eight animals you wouldn't expect to be heroes but definitely deserve medals for being selfless and brave in the face of danger!

1) Raccoon

One raccoon had its day in the sun this week when it helped to save a family from their burning house. The animal made its way up into the attic and chewed through some wires, which caused the fire to go out. Though it was a risky move, the story has left us with a bunch of questions about raccoons. Where do they live? What do they eat? How much do they weigh?

I'm going to answer all those questions and more, thanks to my extensive research on animal life cycles! All animals have an animal life cycle that starts with an egg and ends in death, but raccoons are known for being at home both in the trees and on land. They are also nocturnal creatures who like to build dens in high places - usually hollowed-out trees or culverts - where they will raise babies. Raccoons prefer eating nuts, fruit, insects, fish, and mice - so please be kind if you ever come across one while walking around at night!

3) Rooster

You’ve probably heard of the animal kingdom, but did you know there is also a village of animals? This village is home to all sorts of wild creatures that live together in harmony. The Rooster is one of the animals who live there. Its job is to wake up all the other animals with its early-morning crows! So if you hear a rooster crow at sunrise tomorrow morning, know that it's doing its duty and being an animal hero.

4) Cattle Dog

Cattle dogs are a type of herding dog that was originally bred to herd sheep. They work alongside the shepherd, and their job is to gather the sheep and move them in a direction. The Cattle Dog’s speed and stamina allow it to run for long distances without tiring. This breed is used in many other types of herding jobs, such as cattle or pigs. Animal life villages often use these dogs to help control the movement of different animals on a farm. These amazing canines have been awarded titles like The Ugly Duckling Herder for their ability to do so much more than just what they were initially trained for.

5) Husky

The husky is a medium-sized working dog. It was bred to pull sleds in cold climates and is excellent at endurance races. The breed can also be great guard dogs because of their size, strength, and intelligence. However, huskies can be difficult to train because they have strong opinions about what they want to do. They are also prone to loneliness or separation anxiety when left alone for long periods of time. Continuation (six+ sentences using at least one of these words or phrases: animal life village, wild animal life, animal life clip, animal clip ): One interesting fact about huskies is that they are descended from wolves! Wolves were bred with other breeds over hundreds of years until the mixed breeds became the modern-day Husky.

6) Squirrel

Squirrels are wild animals that live in the wild. They have animal life clips and are also featured in animal life clips Animal life cycles show some of their lives as well. Animal clips show them living there, so people can see what it's like for a squirrel.

7) Dalmatian

Dalmatians are known as firehouse or coach dogs. They were originally bred as carriage dogs to run alongside carriages and pull them in a harness. The breed is named after Dalmatia, a region in Croatia. The Dalmatian was considered to be the perfect dog because of their high energy, endurance, and intelligence, which made them great hunting companions for landowners who owned horses. They were also popular among firefighters because of their strong sense of smell that could detect fires from miles away and their ability to run fast enough to get there quickly.

8) Crow

Crows are famously intelligent creatures, with a knack for solving puzzles and remembering human faces. Crows are also very social creatures, living in large groups called crow families. These communities can consist of as many as 500 crows!

Crows have long been considered symbols of death, but they're actually quite the opposite. When one crow from their family dies, their family members will typically gather around the body to mourn. Crows also make a funeral call that is a mix between a scream and a cry to help alert other crows in the area.

Crow families often stick together year-round, not just during winter when food is scarce. They may roost on power lines or other tall trees during the day, then fly out at night to look for food. Crows are omnivores which means they eat both plants and animals, including small rodents, insects, eggs, and carrion. They do scavenge some trash occasionally though so if you see them near your trashcan or dumpster it's best to shoo them away before they get into trouble. They'll probably find enough food on their own though!
